Wamberal is the Aboriginal word for ‘where the sea breaks’. Situated between Terrigal and Forresters Beach, this seaside town was first settled by Europeans in 1826 when British settler Willoughby Bean became a Magistrate at Brisbane Water.

The suburb is surrounded by three bodies of water: Terrigal lagoon, Wamberal lagoon and Wamberal Ocean. Wyrrabalong National Park starts along the Wamberal borders and continues towards Forresters Beach. With a Surf Life Saving Club, Wamberal beach is a family friendly beach and ideal for surfers.

Stunning coastal cliffs and expansive ocean views can be seen along platforms at Wyrrabalong National Park which is abundant with wildlife. The name Wyrrabalong is Aboriginal for ‘headland looking over the sea’. Bushwalking is a popular activity in the Wyrrabalong National Park which contains tracks leading to Spoon Bay beach.

The lagoon is a popular place to splash about or for the adventurous paddle boats and stand-up paddle boarding are a must. Wamberal is close to local putt-putt and golf ranges, aquatic centre, shopping centres, pubs, clubs and restaurants.
